Specials Packaging
Introduction:
The packaging codes outlined in the following pages contain additions to or deviations from Dofasco's mill practice as described in the Introduction, Cut Lengths and Coils Sections of this manual.
Codes in this section may begin with "S" for "Special" or "H" which still denotes a "Special Code" but meets HSLA or exhibits other spring back qualities.
Examples include:
- paperboard sleeves
- number and size of straps
- metal or plastic flanged inside diameter edge protectors
- placement and size of wood separators
Read all instructions thoroughly. The description does not have all
of the mill practice guidelines and therefore the illustration may
not be exactly the same as the actual package.
Where the written word differs from the graphic, adhere to the
written word.
Wrapping / Shrouding
Eye Horizontal Coils
Unless the code stipulates otherwise, where the code calls for "W", "VW", or "WW" the normal ID straps may be applied over the paper wrap. If the code requires all normal strapping be applied under the paper wrap a minimum of 2 extra ID straps must be applied over the wrapping. Polyester straps are allowed for this application.
All Coil Orientations
Unless the code gives specific instructions for wrapping or shrouding, refer to the Coils Section of this manual for illustration and instructions. (i.e.) S05U refer to 200U. S13WP refer to 201WP etc.)
