Hamilton, Ontario: Lou Schorsch, Executive Vice President Arcelor Mittal and CEO Flat Americas, is pleased to announce the appointment of Jürgen Schachler to President and CEO, Dofasco Inc., effective May 1, 2007.

Mr. Schachler will succeed Jacques Chabanier, who previously announced his intention to retire from his current responsibilities, pending the appointment of his successor. Mr. Chabanier has agreed to support Mr. Schachler in an advisory capacity until May 31, to support the transition.

Mr. Schachler is currently CEO of Arcelor Mittal Eisenhüttenstadt, Germany, and will also remain in that role until the nomination of his replacement by the Supervisory Board of Arcelor Eisenhüttenstadt.

Mr. Schorsch commented, “Dofasco is the leader in the Canadian steel market as well as a critical component in Arcelor Mittal’s growth strategy in the Americas.  Dofasco has a well-earned reputation in critical value-added markets, such as automotive; and I am very excited about the experience Mr. Schachler brings to help us build on this strong market position.”

He added, “I also want to recognize Jacques Chabanier’s strong leadership throughout Dofasco’s transition and integration with Arcelor Mittal.  Despite his relatively short tenure at the helm of Dofasco, Jacques has had real impact on its performance and prospects.”

Dofasco is a leading North American steel solutions provider.
