3.9 Material Transfer (ASN) 856 
Processor to Dofasco
This transaction set is the ANSI ASC X.12 Version 3030 equivalent of the AISI/COMPORD 
Material Transfer transaction in the AISI Outside Processor System (transaction code 90). 

Purpose

The Material Transfer transaction provides the format and establishes the data content of a
Dofasco ship notice/manifest for use in an electronic business environment. 

Application

The Material Transfer (ASN) lists the contents of a shipment of goods as well as additional
information relating to the shipment, such as order information, product description, physical
characteristics, type of packaging, marking, carrier information and configuration of goods 
within the transportation equipment. 

This transaction will be electronically received by Dofasco from any of its Outside Processors/
Outside Storage Facilities capable of X12 EDI communications.
